Our students

As a paramedicine student on a Workplace Learning placement, you will:

  • get experiences that enhance their understanding of working interprofessionally
  • improve your communication and interpersonal skills both interprofessionally and with clients
  • build your knowledge of regional allied health and community based services
  • develop and use your skills in diagnosis, assessment, intervention, and referral
  • increase your knowledge and understanding of working within an ethical framework in a variety of community settings
  • develop a practical application of health theories
  • strengthen your ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.

About our course

Bachelor of Paramedicine

The Bachelor of Paramedicine is an approved course with the Paramedicine Board of Australia. The course is approved from January 2018 to December 2022. To practice as a paramedic in Australia, you must register with the Paramedicine Board of Australia.

Bachelor of Paramedicine (Honours)

The Bachelor of Paramedicine is an approved course with the Paramedicine Board of Australia. The course is approved from January 2018 to December 2022. To practice as a paramedic in Australia, you must register with the Paramedicine Board of Australia. The Bachelor of Paramedicine (Honours) is approved by the Paramedicine Board of Australia as a qualification that leads to general registration as a paramedic.

About our students

Students range in age from school leavers to mature age, approximately equal male to female ratios, and come from diverse backgrounds and cultures. They are passionate about health care and learning.

Students develop skills in clinical practice and health management, such as:

  • advanced cardiac life support
  • airway management
  • advanced life support for paediatric patients
  • incident management
  • law and ethics
  • advanced pharmacology
  • health promotion
  • injury prevention.

Graduates gain employment with ambulance services locally and internationally, as well as work on mine sites, in the defence forces, and with private agencies.
