Dr Md Parvez Mosharaf

MSc (Stat), PhD (Health Econ. & Precision Med.)

Dr Md Parvez Mosharaf is an Associate Lecturer in Medicine at the School of Rural Medicine, Charles Sturt University, Orange Campus. He is a public health, biostatistics, and health economics researcher with more than seven years of experience across academic, clinical trial, and community-based research settings in Australia and Bangladesh. He completed his PhD in Health Economics and Precision Medicine at the University of Southern Queensland, Australia following BSc and MSc degrees in Statistics from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. His research interests include rural health, Indigenous health, mental health, nutrition, chronic disease, health economic evaluation, clinical trials, longitudinal data analysis, and precision medicine. He has authored more than 35 peer-reviewed publications, with ~500 citations (h-index: 15). His current responsibilities include teaching, research collaboration, statistical analysis, student support, and contribution to rural medicine and health services research. He has also contributed to major projects at Deakin University, UniSQ, UQ, and the JiVitA Research Project in Bangladesh.

Dr Md Parvez Mosharaf has teaching experience across statistics, public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, health economics, and research methods. His teaching approach is informed by his interdisciplinary academic background and practical research experience across Australia and Bangladesh. He has contributed to tertiary teaching through guest lecturing, marking, HDR student supervision, and the facilitation of research training workshops, including scientific writing, evidence synthesis, data analysis, and statistical software use. His expertise includes quantitative research design, regression modelling, clinical trial data analysis, longitudinal data analysis, systematic review and meta-analysis, health economic evaluation, bioinformatics and applied data interpretation. He is particularly interested in supporting students to develop strong analytical thinking, research literacy, and practical skills for evidence-based health practice. In his current role as Associate Lecturer in Medicine at Charles Sturt University, he contributes to teaching, student engagement, and research-informed learning within a rural medicine and public health context.

Dr Md Parvez Mosharaf’s research interests focus on public health, rural and Indigenous health, health economics, epidemiology, mental health, chronic disease, nutrition, clinical trials, applied biostatistics, and precision medicine. His research achievements include contributing to multiple interdisciplinary projects across Australia and Bangladesh, with experience in quantitative study design, statistical analysis, health economic evaluation, systematic reviews, and evidence synthesis. He has worked on large-scale maternal and child health studies, digital health interventions, chronic disease research, and community-based health programs. His current research activities include supporting clinical and public health research within rural medicine, contributing to projects related to health service delivery, virtual healthcare, chronic disease management, mental health, and nutrition-related interventions. He is particularly interested in using robust quantitative methods to generate practical evidence that can improve health outcomes, inform policy, and support equitable healthcare access for rural, regional, and underserved communities.
