Hermily completed a degree in Doctor of Medicine and finished her residency training in Paediatrics at the Philippine General Hospital. She passed her Specialty Board Exams before migrating to Sydney with her family in 2003. She worked as a Paediatric Registrar at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and at Blacktown Mt Druitt Hospitals before transitioning to academic medicine.

She gained extensive experience and skills in the academic environment at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where she was Program Director for the Health Services and Program Director for UTS- University of Notre Dame School of Medicine teaching.

Hermily is currently the Year 4 Convenor at the CSU School of Rural Medicine.

At the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Hermily, together with a team of academics received a Teaching and Learning Citation for using learner-generated digital media (LGDM) to engage science students in authentic learning and developing of digital media skills.

Aside from coordinating Anatomy and Physiology, and Pathophysiology and Pharmacology subjects, she designed subject outlines and delivered lectures. She was passionate about providing the health and medical students with the best learning experience by notably embedding clinical case scenarios and utilising storytelling in her pedagogical approach.

She was co-convenor for Embryology at the University of New South Wales in 2021-22.

Currently pursuing her PhD part-time at UTS, Hermily’s research involves a clinical trial on the effects of the Pinus pinaster bark extract.
