Trent is a Psychiatrist with an interest in mood disorders, trauma, psychotherapy and psychedelic therapy. He obtained fellowship with the RANZCP in 2023 and is pursuing further study in suicidology and psychotherapy.

Trent also has an interest in medical education, becoming an Honorary Clinical Tutor at the University of Wollongong in 2015 and a Conjoint Lecturer with the University of Newcastle in 2020. He subsequently completed a Clinical Teaching Fellowship with the University of Sydney in 2021 while joining Charles Sturt University as an Adjunct Associate Lecturer.

Prior to this, Trent was admitted as a Solicitor in 2008 in the Australian Capital Territory. He was employed for 4 years as a Legal Adviser to Medicare Australia, primarily working with the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.
