Dr Jackson Blythe is a rural generalist registrar with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. Jackson graduated from UNSW’s Port Macquarie Rural Clinical School in 2019 and started his medical internship in 2020 in Orange. He has since worked in Orange and Coonabarabran in general practice, emergency, and inpatient settings. Jackson is currently completing an Academic Post as part of his GP training.

Jackson has research interests in remote health systems and climate change and health. His current research centres around practitioner experiences of managing critically unwell patients in rural emergency departments. He is also teaching Introduction to Clinical Medicine and clinical skills for pre-clinical medical students.

In addition to clinical and academic work, Jackson works in GP registrar advocacy, acting as a registrar advisor with General Practice Registrars Australia.

Dr Blythe currently coordinates Introduction to Clinical Medicine and teaches Clinical Skills for Years 1 and 2 of the Doctor of Medicine program.

Research interests include remote health systems, remote health services provision, and climate change and health.

Currently Jackson is working on a project titled “Critical Care Readiness in Rural Emergency Departments in Western NSW”, which aims to explore the experiences of rural doctors in performing critical care interventions.
