Dr. Jake Ball is a registered specialist periodontist with the Dental Board of Australia and Discipline Lead in Periodontics at the School of Dentistry and Health Sciences, Charles Sturt University.
Jake graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science from Charles Sturt University in 2013 receiving several awards for academic excellence. Following graduation, he worked as a general dentist, clinical tutor and Adjunct Associate Lecturer at Charles Sturt University Dental and Oral Health Clinic. During this time, he successfully completed Part I examinations with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons receiving commendations for his achievements. In 2017, Jake commenced his speciality training at the University of Melbourne gaining extensive experiencing in periodontics and implant dentistry, teaching and research. He received an Australian Dental Research Foundation Grant for his clinical research in metabolomics and held the position of the University of Melbourne ITI Study Club Director. In 2019, Jake graduated with a Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Periodontics and currently maintains part-time specialist practice in Sydney.
Responsible for the delivery of preclinical and clinical teaching in conjunction with lectures and tutorials in periodontics for the Bachelor of Dental Science course.
Jake is actively involved in research pertaining to the metabolomic, microbiomic and genomic assessment of periodontal diseases. His research interests also include periodontal regeneration, periodontal plastic surgery and implant dentistry.
