BDS, MSc in Pediatric Dentistry, PhD in Pediatric Dentistry AProf. Marco Aurelio Benini Paschoal is currently an Associate Professor in Clinical Dentistry at the Centre for Rural Dentistry and Oral Health, School of Dentistry and Medical Sciences, Orange Campus, Australia. AProf. Paschoal graduated with honours, earning his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the Bauru School of Dentistry, University of São Paulo (USP), Brazil, where he completed his specialist training and his Master's in Paediatric Dentistry in 2009. Also, completed his PhD in Pediatric Dentistry at Araraquara Dental School, São Paulo State University (UNESP) in 2013 and participated in a split-fellowship PhD programme at the College of Dentistry of New York University (NYUCD) in the USA (2012-2013), where he completed his Postdoctoral studies in 2015 and in Biophotonics field at Nove de Julho University, Brazil in 2017. AProf. Paschoal is the past president of the Brazilian Association of Pediatric Dentistry (Minas Gerais regional, Brazil, 2021-2023) and current vice-president (2024-2025). He is an active member of the Australian New Zealand Society of Paediatric Dentistry (ANZPD), the International Association of Dental Research (IADR), and serves as Associate Editor for the journal Contemporary Pediatric Dentistry, Editorial Board of Frontiers in Dental Medicine (Frontiers group), BMC Oral Health, and Scientific Reports. AProf. Paschoal served as an Associate Professor in Pediatric Dentistry at Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil (UFMG) since 2019 until joining CSU in 2025. AProf. Paschoal is an educator for bachelor's and postgraduate students in the dental field, including functions encompassing theoretical, preclinical, and clinical teaching, mostly focusing on pediatric dentistry/operative dentistry/prevention, and the diagnostic field since 2013. Moreover, AProf. Paschoal taught and supervised candidates pursuing their Honours, Master’s and PhD trainings with emphasis in the pediatric dentistry field. Before joining CSU, AProf. Paschoal was AProf. in some institutions in Brazil, including Maranhão University Center, Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, and Federal University of Minas Gerais. A/Prof Paschoal specialises in studying oral biofilms, dental materials, and their interactions, with a strong focus on pediatric dentistry. His expertise includes both in vitro and in vivo research on antibiofilm materials, complemented by a background in cariology. Beyond laboratory studies, he is deeply engaged in survey-based and epidemiological research on key pediatric dentistry topics such as enamel defects, molar-incisor hypomineralisation (MIH), and minimally invasive treatments. He also conducts clinical trials evaluating the performance of dental materials and explores the broader implications of oral diseases in children, including their impact on quality of life and qualitative care.Dentistry
