Associate Professor Tony Dawson has been associated with the dental school at CSU since its inception, firstly as an adjunct and more recently as a member of faculty. He comes to CSU after a long career that has encompassed both military and civil private specialist practice. As a practicing prosthodontist, Tony has been involved in providing continuing professional development courses for dentists in the field of his specialty, and more specifically in his special interest of Implant Dentistry’

Associate Professor Dawson has a special interest in risk assessment and management in Implant Dentistry. He was the principal editor and author of “The SAC Classification in Implant Dentistry” which was published in 2009, and which is used widely as a framework for implant dentistry education.

Tony is currently the Year 5 Coordinator and subject coordinator for the main subject in the final year – Dental Clinical Practice 5. He is also the subject coordinator for the subjects that comprise the Graduate Diploma in Dental Implantology.

Associate Professor Dawson teaches into the clinical years of the course, focusing on risk management, prosthodontics and implant dentistry. He is the Head of the Dentistry discipline in the Centre for Rural Dentistry and Oral Health where his duties take in the broad range of activities aimed at maintaining quality outcomes in the teaching and Learning space.
