BSc, MSc, PhD

Senior Lecturer in Medical Physics

Building 30 Room 270

I have been teaching medical radiation science courses at Charles Sturt University since 1998. I was a medical physicist at the Prince of Wales Hospital Sydney prior to my appointment at CSU.

I earned my PhD in physics from the University of Newcastle and subsequently worked as a postdoctoral fellow in applied mathematics at the University of Wollongong and lecturer A in theoretical chemistry at the University of Sydney.

I grew up in China and was educated at Zhejiang University China where I earned my Bachelor and Master degrees and held an assistant lecturer position. I spent seven months at the University of Massachusetts Medical School USA on a special study leave.

My present research interests are in the general areas of medical physics including physics and instrumentation of CR/DR, CT, MRI, SPECT/PET with current focus on optimisation of  image quality and radiation dose in medical X-ray imaging.

My past research work had across several fields of studies including surface science, mathematical modelling of granular materials, medical image processing and analysis and published a number papers in these respective international journals, such as surface science, power technology, journal of nuclear medicine technology and IEEE transaction on nuclear science.

My teaching is in the general areas of medical imaging physics and instrumentation of major medical imaging modalities including computer applications in medical imaging.

Current teaching subjects are digital image processing and informatics, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

I have taught medical radiation physics, applied imaging, nuclear medicine physics and instrumentation, emission tomography, computers in nuclear medicine and radiopharmacy in the past at CSU. I have also taught general physics at Zhejiang University of China and general chemistry at Sydney University of Australia.
