While Dr Parissi has a wide experience in didactic teaching at a tertiary level his preferred method of engaging with student, by far, is through experiential education methods. In particular, he enjoys the challenges of Problem Based Learning, where the student is the centre of the knowledge-gaining process – an active learning process. For Dr Parissi, facilitating the learning of students is a rewarding and enriching experience and one where the students gain the confidence and skills for deep learning and the development of life-long learning capacities.

Dr Parissi focuses on qualitative research methods and analysis of data. His research experience includes post-doctoral research as well as other research projects, including publications from several research studies. Methodologies in his research include case study, ethnography, action research, grounded theory, and he used a transdisciplinary approach in his doctoral research. He has gathered data via surveys, focus groups, participant observation, document analysis, and interviews. In addition, he has taught research methods, and supervised students at the level of undergraduate, masters, and PhD
