BMRS(MI)(Hons), GradCertMIS, GradCertClinEd, GradCertLTHighEd, MMIS, MHLM, MPH, PhD Dr Shayne Chau is a Senior Lecturer in Diagnostic Radiography at Charles Sturt University and an Associate Professor at VinUniversity through its Global Affiliate Program. His work spans diagnostic radiography, computed tomography, and neuroimaging, with a focus on education, clinical practice, and artificial intelligence in healthcare. He holds a PhD in Neuroscience (University of South Australia) and three Master’s degrees in Public Health and Health Leadership and Management (UNSW), and Medical Imaging Science (University of Sydney). He has published over 80 peer-reviewed journal articles (h-index 18) and is a regular invited speaker at national and international conferences. Shayne leads national collaboration as Chair of the Teaching Innovation in Radiography Group and contributes to several journals as an associate editor and editorial board member. He is a Fellow of ASMIRT and the HEA. Alongside his academic role, he contributes to professional practice through advisory, accreditation, and clinical governance roles across Australia. Shayne teaches across all year levels in diagnostic radiography, supporting students from foundational knowledge through to advanced clinical practice. His teaching focuses on clinical reasoning, image interpretation, and the integration of theory into real-world practice. He uses a student-centred approach, drawing on simulation, case-based learning, and interactive activities to build confidence and decision-making skills. His work also emphasises communication, reflective practice, and professional capability development, aligned with accreditation standards. Shayne has led curriculum renewal and assessment redesign, including the implementation of programmatic assessment and longitudinal portfolios to support continuous learning. He has developed a range of teaching resources, including clinical handbooks and structured learning tools, to support students in both academic and placement settings. His teaching is informed by his clinical background and research in education, ensuring that learning remains relevant, practical, and responsive to the evolving demands of healthcare Shayne’s research focuses on diagnostic radiography, neuroimaging, and health professions education, with a strong emphasis on clinically relevant and practice-driven outcomes. His work spans neuroimaging biomarkers, particularly nigrosome-1 imaging in Parkinson’s disease, as well as imaging applications in oncology, patient care, and diagnostic accuracy. He has a growing program of research in artificial intelligence in healthcare, including its application to image interpretation, education, and informed consent. His education research explores assessment design, programmatic assessment, gamification, and the use of generative AI to support learning and reflective practice. Shayne has published over 80 peer-reviewed journal articles, alongside multiple textbooks and book chapters, and has secured competitive research funding. He is currently Chair of the Teaching Innovation in Radiography Group, leading national collaborative research in radiography education. He actively supervises higher degree research students and leads multi-institutional projects that aim to advance both clinical practice and radiography education.Diagnostic radiography4261178
