Lecturer in Paramedicine

Michael completed his Bachelor of Clinical Practice (Paramedic) in 2017 at CSU in Bathurst. Following this, he spent six years working as an Advanced Care Paramedic with QAS on the Gold Coast, before moving to Armidale to continue clinical work with NSWAS. Over the last seven years, Michael has also worked as a Paramedic in the private sector, involving various teaching roles, provision of remote first aid courses as well as completing overseas contracts that has seen him provide medical coverage on a remote Malaysian island during a TV production.

Michael has extensive experience teaching students and graduate paramedics both on-road and in the classroom, as well as delivering courses to members of the public that range from basic first aid to certificate IV level courses. Being Aboriginal himself, Michael has a strong passion for both education and the ongoing support of all Indigenous members of the community, taking the chance to act as a mentor wherever possible.

He also has a keen interest in neuroscience and the strong role this can play in Paramedic education, development and subsequent prehospital care provision, which has led Michael to undertake a Master of Neuroscience and Education. He is looking to research the neurological effects experienced in simulation environments and how this information can inform effective practice.
