Bertus’ career spans from working as a CCP on frontline road operations, fixed wing, military zones, remote sites, mining, rescue, and VVIP close protection medicine. He has worked in South Africa, Afghanistan, Qatar, and now calls Australia home.

He has completed a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Emergency Medicine through the University of Cape Town.

He has also completed a Cert III in Emergency Response and Rescue paving a way into industrial paramedicine.

Bertus teaches into the undergrad and post-grad space. He has an interest in critical care and emergency medicine as well as the challenges that remote medicine brings with it. He enjoys hands-on and engaging sessions with students and always open to continuous learning.

He has an interest in exploring challenges and solutions found in healthcare services in Low- and Middle-income countries. He further has an interest in industrial paramedicine.
