Kristina completed initial nursing training at Prince of Wales/ Prince Henry hospital in Sydney. Kristina initially spent time working in both adult and paediatric surgical units at both Prince of Wales and Royal North hospital.

Kristina developed a keen interest in diabetes and after completing some diabetes education courses became a diabetes educator at Prince of Wales hospital. During this time Kristina developed and ran a series of outpatient education clinics targeting all aspects of the community but specialising in both teenage diabetics and ethnic communities, especially the Greek population due to the high incidence of diabetes and large numbers in the Eastern suburbs community. Kristina was also responsible for the education of staff members in the management of diabetes patients.

After looking to expand into education further Kristina commenced work in the intensive care unit at Prince of Wales hospital. This nursing speciality became a passion that led to both Graduate Certificate in Critical Care, Monash University, as well as work in intensive care units throughout NSW, Victoria and overseas.

During this time, and with a diabetes education background, Kristina became an educator in the intensive care environment. Education became  a focus and Kristina commenced some casual teaching at Monash University and Master of Nursing through Charles Sturt University. This qualification I completed in 2013.

During this time Kristina took on some management and leadership roles in nursing which led to a position as Nurse Manager at the Kapooka Military Base, after relocating to Wagga Wagga with family. Kristina was in this role for 6 years before commencing full time teaching at Charles Sturt University in 2013. Kristina continues to work both in the Defence and intensive care environments to maintain clinical competency.

Kristina is enrolled as a PHD candidate at Charles Sturt University with a focus on Military historiography.
