Asta is a lecturer in Speech Pathology at Charles Sturt University, bringing over 20 years of clinical experience across diverse adult and paediatric settings. She has extensive expertise in Head and Neck, voice, and objective swallow assessment and management, gained through her roles as a senior clinician in principal referral teaching hospitals in Sydney and Melbourne. From 2019 to early 2025, Asta served as a senior Speech Pathologist at a major hospital in regional NSW with responsibilities in district consultation. Recognised for her mentorship and contributions to clinical education and standards, she was named the 2024 Western NSW Local Health District Allied Health Educator of the Year. Asta joined Charles Sturt University in 2022, where she redeveloped curriculum for motor speech, swallowing, and voice. She is also pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Newcastle, with research focused on breathing training for individuals with chronic pain and gastrointestinal conditions.

Asta is in the final year of her PhD study on telehealth-based breathing intervention for people with chronic pain. Her other current research projects include spinal cord injury hospital readmission in Western NSW Health and breathing exercises for the management of gastrointestinal conditions.
