Lecturer in Physiotherapy

Building 1014 Orange Campus

Misha is a physiotherapist, academic, and researcher with over 12 years of experience across clinical practice, teaching, and research in Australia and internationally. She is currently a Lecturer in Physiotherapy in the School of Allied Health, Exercise and Sports Sciences at Charles Sturt University, based at the Orange campus in New South Wales.

Misha graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physiotherapy from University of Health Sciences Lahore, Pakistan, and later completed a Post-Professional Doctor of Physiotherapy at Isra University in Islamabad. Following her studies, she worked as a lecturer in physiotherapy while continuing her clinical practice, with a particular focus on neurological rehabilitation and chronic disease management. In 2018, she moved to Australia to undertake her doctoral studies at the University of Tasmania.

Misha completed her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 2024. Her doctoral research investigated the effects of eccentric exercise training on glycaemic control and health related risk factors in individuals with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Her work employed mixed methods, including a randomised clinical trial and qualitative interviews, to explore the health and functional benefits of novel exercise interventions.

Prior to joining Charles Sturt University, Misha held several academic roles in Pakistan and Australia. At University of Tasmania, she began working as a casual academic staff member in 2018 while undertaking her PhD, contributing to teaching across a range of programs including physiotherapy, exercise science, nursing, and allied health. More recently, Misha worked as a Lecturer in Exercise Science/Physiology at the University of Tasmania, where she contributed to teaching within the Exercise Science and Master of Physiotherapy programs. Her teaching focused on neurological physiotherapy, exercise science, and functional anatomy and physiology, and she was actively involved in curriculum delivery, clinical assessment, and supporting students in applying evidence-based knowledge to professional practice.

Alongside her academic work, Misha maintains strong links with clinical practice. She has worked as a physiotherapist in hospital and community settings, including at Calvary St Vincent’s and St Luke’s Hospital in Launceston, Tasmania, where she provided physiotherapy services across medical, surgical, orthopaedic, and rehabilitation units. Her research interests focus on exercise rehabilitation, chronic disease management, and translating research evidence into clinical practice and health professional education.

As a lecturer at Charles Sturt University, Misha aims to support students in developing strong clinical reasoning and practical skills to deliver safe, evidence-based physiotherapy care. She contributes to teaching within the Bachelor of Physiotherapy program, including PHS318 Functional Adult Neurological Physiotherapy, PHS249 Integrated Physiotherapy Practice, and PHS306 Exploring the Breadth of Physiotherapy Practice.

Misha was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (Medical Sciences) from the University of Tasmania in 2024. Her doctoral research investigated the effects of eccentric exercise training on glycaemic control and cardiometabolic risk factors in individuals with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. The project employed a mixed-methods approach, including a randomised clinical trial and qualitative interviews, to explore the health and functional benefits of novel exercise interventions.

Misha is particularly interested in translating research findings into clinical practice and physiotherapy education to improve patient care and health outcomes.
