PhD AES ESSAM

Lecturer in Exercise Science / Biomechanics
Bathurst
Building 1431 Room 1.16

Dr Kerry Mann is a Lecturer with the School of Exercise Science, Sport and Health at Charles Sturt University and Accredited Exercise Scientist. Her primary research focus in the field of biomechanics, movement screening and injury prevention in pre-elite youth athletes. Her doctoral thesis was titled titled "Lumbopelvic Instability: The Primary Cause of Lower Limb Injuries in Pre-Elite Youth Athletes?". Dr Mann completed her Bachelor of Exercise Science (Rehabilitation) and Bachelor of Exercise Science (Honours) at Charles Sturt University, graduating with distinction and Class 1 Honours respectively. Dr Mann has completed injury prevention and movement screening with organisations including Western Region Academy of Sport, Hunter Academy of Sport, Far West Academy of Sport, Greater Western Sydney Academy of Sport and Western Sydney Health & Rehabilitation Services.

Dr Mann's current research topic is Injury Prevention through Prediction. This research examines the practical application of biomechanics in movement screening for use in injury prevention. Specifically the role the lumbopelvic region plays in the incidence of injury and whether injury prevention training programs can reduce an athlete's risk of injury, thereby reducing the injury rates among pre-elite youth athletes.
