Profile

In February 2024 Diarmuid joined us as the new Associate Dean, Strategic Partnerships and Enterprise for the Faculty.

In his most recent role as Regional Recovery Director for Emergency Recovery Victoria, Diarmuid oversaw regional recovery efforts for significant disasters including the 2019/20 Bushfires, and the October 2022 Flood and Landslip events in Victoria. Core to this role was coordinating complex partnerships whilst engaging with community and councils on the ground with a trauma informed approach.

Diarmuid has previously held partnership roles with the Victorian Department of Environment Land Water and Planning (DELWP), Victorian State Trustees and with Engineers without Borders (EWB). He has background working in capital works in the pharmaceutical industry as well as a number of years working with Australia’s largest international non-government organisation (World Vision Australia). His experience working in corporate, not-for-profit and government sectors has given him a deep understanding of the importance of creating and sustaining effective partnerships to deliver outcomes and impact.

Having been born, raised and formally educated in Ireland, Diarmuid has travelled the world and settled in the NSW-Victorian border area with his young family in 2018. He is passionate about collaborating across regions and sectors to provide opportunities for all in regional, rural and remote areas.
