Lecturer in Speech and Language Pathology
Albury / Wodonga
Building 673 Room 425

Graduating from the Speech Pathology Program at Sydney University in 1991, Marijke has since had a long career as a practicing paediatric speech pathologist and practice educator. Working mostly in the community health sector, she has combined her clinical work with providing a variety of clinical education opportunities, particularly in regional and rural communities. She has a strong philosophy around sharing specialist knowledge to build service capacity in unserved communities.

Having collaborated in a number of academic projects over the years, she joined the Charles Sturt University Speech Pathology Program in 2019 to focus on the continued delivery of high quality work integrated learning experiences. Sharing her passion for the profession with students, she continues to strive to develop the next generation of competent and caring speech pathologists.

Marijke commenced permanent employment as a Workplace Learning Coordinator and Lecturer in the Speech Pathology Program at Charles Sturt in 2019. Marijke mostly teaches work integrated learning subjects in the final years of the program. In these subjects, Marijke’s focus is on preparing and engaging students for safe and rewarding placement experiences as they make the transition from student to speech pathologist. Most of Marijke’s teaching occurs outside of the classroom because her role is in supporting students and practice educators in the real-world contexts of speech pathology practice.
