Lecturer in Speech Pathology

Kate is a lecturer in speech pathology and post-doctoral research fellow at Charles Sturt University. After graduating as a speech pathologist from the University of Sydney in 2008, she has worked clinically as a speech pathologist in both Australia and Vietnam across all areas of paediatric speech pathology for NSW Health, NGOs, schools and in private practice. While in Vietnam, she provided training for rehabilitation therapists and teachers at Da Nang University of Medical Technology & Pharmacy and the Kianh Foundation. Kate has provided clinical education for speech pathology students in Australia and Vietnam.

From 2019-2021, Kate worked as a project officer for the Australian Research Council Discovery Grant project titled VietSpeech: Vietnamese-Australian children's speech and language competence (DP180102848, 2018-2021). Kate completed her PhD research in 2024, exploring assessment and differential diagnosis of speech sound disorders in Vietnamese-English speaking children. Her current research focusses on supporting speech pathologists to assess multilingual children’s speech in their home languages. Kate has been on the board of directors and served as academic coordinator for Trinh Foundation Australia since 2023.
