PhD, Honours (Human Movement) - Class H1, BAppSc (Physical Education) Dr Chelsea Litchfield is a Senior Lecturer in Human Movement studies in the school of Exercise Science, Sport and Health. Dr Litchfield is also the School Honours Coordinator and the Chair of the school Research Management committee. Dr Litchfield joined the School of Exercise Science, Sport and Health at Charles Sturt University in January 2009. Previously, Dr Litchfield completed her studies through Victoria University in Melbourne, where she also taught into their academic programs. Dr Litchfield holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Physical Education, a Class 1 Honours degree in Human Movement and her PhD research explored the culture of and finding safe and affirming spaces in women'steam sports in Melbourne. Dr Litchfield teaches in the areas of sports media, sport ethics and Indigenous participation in sport. Dr Litchfield's research focuses predominately on the relationship between sport and various forms of (online, social and traditional) media. In particular, her research explores how gender intersects with both sport and media, in relation to sporting fans, athletes and leadership positions in sport. Critical feminism, third-wave and post feminism are often used as theoretical lenses to explore this type of research. Dr Litchfield's research has explored sporting spaces for athletes from LGBT groups, social media spaces for female athletes and female sports journalists, social media abuse aimed at athletes and a number of ethical issues in sport. Dr Litchfield has established research collaborations with researchers from a number of Australian universities and Bournemouth University in England.Associate Head of School
