sport.

Dr Litchfield's research focuses predominately on the relationship between sport and various
forms of (online, social and traditional) media. In particular, her research explores how gender
intersects with both sport and media, in relation to sporting fans, athletes and leadership
positions in sport. Critical feminism, third-wave and post feminism are often used as theoretical
lenses to explore this type of research. Dr Litchfield's research has explored sporting spaces for
athletes from LGBT groups, social media spaces for female athletes and female sports
journalists, social media abuse aimed at athletes and a number of ethical issues in sport. Dr
Litchfield has established research collaborations with researchers from a number of Australian
universities and Bournemouth University in England.
