Katherine is a Registered Veterinary Nurse and Registered Veterinary Technologist with extensive experience in emergency and referral veterinary medicine. She completed her Bachelor of Veterinary Technology at Charles Sturt University and has worked in advanced clinical practice at in a 24-hour emergency and referral centre serving the Riverina region. Throughout her career, Katherine has developed strong expertise in emergency and critical care nursing, advanced imaging, anaesthesia, and complex procedural support, and she routinely performs advanced clinical procedures within a multidisciplinary veterinary team. She is currently working toward her Veterinary Technologist Specialist certification in Emergency and Critical Care, reflecting her commitment to clinical excellence and professional advancement. Katherine is also extensively involved with the New South Wales branch of the Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia, contributing to professional development initiatives and advocacy for the veterinary nursing profession.

Katherine’s teaching focuses on developing strong practical skills, critical thinking, and clinical confidence in students, particularly in areas such as diagnostic imaging, patient care, and emergency and critical care. Katherine is passionate about creating engaging and clinically relevant learning experiences, using case-based learning, visual resources, and hands-on training to support student success. She is committed to fostering a supportive learning environment that encourages curiosity, professionalism, and lifelong learning, while also advocating for the continued advancement and recognition of veterinary technicians within the veterinary profession.

Katherine is particularly interested in respiratory management and monitoring in critically ill and anaesthetised patients, as well as the development of practical clinical guidelines that can be readily applied in hospital settings. Alongside her clinical research interests, she is also passionate about veterinary education and exploring innovative approaches to teaching that enhance student learning and preparedness for practice
