Dr Ciocchetta is a Lecturer in Parasitology. She has taught Parasitology and Medical Entomology to undergraduate and postgraduate students in veterinary and medical sciences and has supervised research at both levels. Since 2019, she has been an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Dr Ciocchetta expertise spans parasitic arthropods and helminths of veterinary and zoonotic importance, including filariasis, schistosomiasis, and soil-transmitted helminths. She has developed innovative diagnostic approaches, including AI-enhanced and near-infrared spectroscopy methods, and co-developed animal models to study host-parasite interactions. Dr Ciocchetta’s work bridges classical parasitology with emerging technologies, combining field studies, diagnostics, and epidemiology, and is aligned with One Health, biosecurity, and applied veterinary research priorities.
