Lecturer in Ruminant Health and Production
Wagga Wagga
Building 229

Lauren’s interest in animal health was fostered from a young age, growing up on a mixed beef cattle and sheep enterprise in the Riverina, NSW. She also grew up breeding, riding and racing horses, particularly Stockhorses and Standardbred. Naturally, while loving all aspects of rural mixed practice, Lauren’s real interest has always been large animal medicine and production.

Lauren graduated with a Double Degree of Veterinary Science and Veterinary Biology from Charles Sturt University in 2013. Since then, her qualifications have taken her all over this big, beautiful country. She has worked in rural mixed practices, with a large animal focus, in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, as well as outback Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

Lauren has vast amounts of practical experience in beef cattle and sheep medicine, reproduction and production. She has also spent time working in dairy practices in northern Victoria. Her career has involved a large amount of equine work and she enjoys the challenge of looking after not-so-common production animals including goats and alpacas. Lauren is a qualified bull check (BBSE) Pregcheck veterinarian.

In practice, Lauren has successfully managed AI and ET programs in both cattle and horses as well as consulting to large beef feedlots in southern QLD.

Lauren is passionate about the critical role of rural veterinarians. She understands the significant role they play in upholding farm animal health and welfare as well as contributing to the prosperity of regional communities.

Lauren is looking forward to being able to further her career in academia and research and is excited about being able to pass on some practical knowledge to student veterinarians.
