Dr. Haseeb Anwar graduated in Veterinary Medicine in 2001 and served as a Veterinary Officer in Pakistan’s Livestock and Dairy Development Department for several years. After completing his PhD in Veterinary Physiology from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, in 2011, he transitioned to academia, founding and leading the Department of Physiology at GC University, Faisalabad, Pakistan.

He played a key role in curriculum development, subject coordination, and student supervision, mentoring over 40 master’s and 10 PhD students. His postdoctoral research at the University of Copenhagen focused on the role of gut microbiomes in drug delivery within the gastrointestinal tract. Dr. Anwar has received multiple awards for excellence in teaching and research. As Director of Career Counselling, he contributed significantly to student guidance and professional development.

In 2025, he joined Charles Sturt University as a Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology at the School of Agriculture, Environmental, and Veterinary Sciences. His vision is to enhance the school’s academic standing and strengthen its international collaborations.

Dr. Haseeb Anwar teaches endocrinology, gastrointestinal physiology, and cardiorespiratory physiology, with over 12 years of experience instructing students from diverse backgrounds. His contributions extend beyond teaching to curriculum development and accreditation, showcasing his academic leadership.

He has secured multiple national and international grants to organize symposia, workshops, seminars, and conferences, fostering learning and professional development. As the founder of the Physiological Society of Pakistan, he successfully integrated it with The Physiological Society of the UK, creating valuable student-centered learning opportunities. He is certified Master Trainer for PhD supervisors under a British Council program.

Dr. Anwar has also developed laboratory animal disease models for student demonstrations and research. His expertise in integrating modern technology into teaching is reflected in positive student feedback. Dedicated to student engagement, he has established interactive platforms like the Physiology Café, connecting students with leading professionals in the field.

Dr. Haseeb Anwar has an impressive publication record, with an h-index of 30 and over 4,000 citations (Google Scholar), reflecting the depth and impact of his research. In addition to original research articles, he has authored highly cited review articles and book chapters. He was among the pioneers to propose the gut microbiome as a distinct organ system, a concept that has since gained global research attention.

His work has explored the role of gut microbiota in various health and disease conditions, successfully linking their influence to multiple physiological states. He has also developed oxidative stress assays to assess the overall oxidant-antioxidant balance in the body. Committed to research commercialization, Dr. Anwar founded Physio Tech, through which he launched several diagnostic kits and health products. His ongoing research focuses but not limited to the role of gut microbiota in metabolic pathways under changing environmental conditions.

Beyond research, he has collaborated with prestigious international organizations, including the Poultry Science Association (USA), The Physiological Society (UK), and the International Dose-Response Society (Europe), further strengthening his global academic and scientific contributions.
