BVBio/ BVSc (Hons 1)
Since completing veterinary science at CSU, Ashleigh has spent the past few years working in rural, mixed practices across Victoria and NSW. She is particularly passionate about all aspects of large animal production work, including preventative herd health, reproduction, and field medicine and surgery. Ashleigh also finds enjoyment in working with companion animals, and hence continues to work casually in the clinical setting.
Ashleigh went on to work for the Wagga Wagga Local Land Services as a District Veterinarian in 2023, which saw her gain further experience in disease investigations, disease preparedness, bushfire response and livestock assessments, and biosecurity education. Ashleigh describes a highlight of this time to be the collaborative approach taken with local farmers and stakeholders to achieve optimal production animal outcomes.
Her time in the industry role, combined with her clinical experience sees her excited to transition into her role in academia at Charles Sturt University in the Ruminant Production and Health team.
Ashleigh has assisted in student learning through working closely with them on their clinical placements in general practice. However, she is particularly keen to aid in the preparation of future veterinarians through passing on practical knowledge and clinical skills to student veterinarians directly in the university setting. She is looking forward to gaining experience as an Associate Lecturer.
