BEnvSci (Mgt-CultHerit) (Hons) CSU, PhD CSU, SFHEA Dr Prue Laidlaw is the Sub-Dean, Learning and Teaching for the Faculty of Science and Health and a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Management in the School of Agricultural, Environmental and Veterinary Sciences. Prue's primary areas of teaching focus on preparing reflective and ethical professionals to work in the complex and changing field of the environmental sciences. The science disciplines are diverse, and future practice is equally as diverse: interdisciplinary, dynamic and challenging. Since 2010, Prue has specialised in teaching first-year students with a focus on the critical phase of student transition into university. The real-world problems that Prue prepare students for require multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches and actions. As an environmental scientist, there is a need to be a transdisciplinary expert, capable of boundary crossing, of understanding complexity and finding solutions. Utilising her expertise in pedagogy, curriculum and qualitative methodologies, Prue’s research expands knowledge and practices on formative themes in higher education such as improving early assessment practices, the rapid pivot to online examinations, the critical role of universities in times of crises and the role of quality in interdisciplinary work-integrated learning experiences for undergraduate students.Environmental Science
