BScAgr (Hons), Grad Dip Ed, PhD JJane has worked in the livestock industry for over 25 years and has been at Charles Sturt University for 13 years. She has a range of experience in providing on-farm specialist consultancy and education to producers on livestock management. Jane completed her PhD in 2020, focussing on interactions/impacts between grass weed populations and sheep meat production, focussing on grass seed contamination in sheep. Her research to date has focussed on using detection technologies to identify contaminants in livestock product supply chains for improved meat quality, identifying invasive species in agricultural and environmental landscapes and in improving traceability and product quality in extensive and intensive livestock production systems. She is particularly interested in enhancing production outcomes and developing supply chains for improved food security in Australian and international livestock systems Jane is a Senior lecturer in Livestock Production Management. She has overseen the development and delivery of core livestock management subjects for Agriculture students at CSU for over 13 years, covering topics associated with production systems, livestock grazing, nutrition, breeding, health/welfare and markets. She has strong extension experience and formal education qualifications that has helped her develop extension publications, materials and networks for the dissemination of information and skills to students, producer communities and groups. Her current research interests focus on improving livestock productivity, health and management (including One Health), and developing improved supply chains, for domestic livestock and game meat products that help to mitigate food insecurity and improve health and sustainability outcomes in communities across a changing climate, both in Australia and internationally. Her current projects are currently focussed on development of detection technologies for improved meat quality and identifying new opportunities for wild game meat in mitigating food insecurity.Agriculture3806887
