Kate completed her Bachelor of Science (Major in Animal and Veterinary Bioscience), Bachelor of Equine Science Honours and PhD in Equine Science at The University of Queensland. She has taught into various subjects in animal and equine science at The University of Queensland and University of Southern Queensland. She has also worked on an equine stud farm and as an equine veterinary nurse. Kate has a passion for equine research, particularly in the area of equine endocrinology.

Kate has taught across a number of subjects in the animal and equine science space. She is an Associate Fellow of Advance HE.

Kate has a strong passion for equine research, first developed during her honours where she investigated the presence of an equine amniotic fluid microbiota. During her PhD she investigated the use of phenylbutazone in horses with insulin dysregulation. This has inspired her continued interest in the area of equine endocrinology.
