Yumi is a Brazilian veterinarian who graduated from the Universidade de São Paulo and later continued her training in the United States. She completed an equine internal medicine fellowship at a private practice in Kentucky, followed by a Large Animal fellowship at Oregon State University, and a three-year residency in large animal internal medicine at Purdue University, where she also earned a master’s in veterinary clinical science. She has recently moved to Wagga Wagga with her cat, Marble, and enjoys outdoor activities, working out, reading, and watching TV series in her spare time.

Yumi has a strong passion for clinical teaching and bringing the theory into practice. She has been involved in teaching veterinary and veterinary nurse students in their final year for the past 4 years and her teaching approach combines stimulation for critical thinking with the development of clinical skills to ultimately build student confidence for their future career goals.

Yumi’s research interests involve clinical research, especially in the area of gastrointestinal, respiratory and endocrinology systems.
