Jillian has undertaken advanced post-graduate training in equine medicine. She is a current ECEIM (European College of Equine Internal Medicine) candidate and was admitted to the degree of Doctorate of Veterinary Studies in 2024. She is a Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Equine Medicine.

Jillian’s current area of teaching includes veterinary anaesthesia, with a focus on anaesthesia of large animals.

Jillian’s research interests include gastrointestinal microbiota of horses in health and in disease. Research trials investigating the gastrointestinal microbiota of horses were highlighted in the thesis of her DVStud.

Current research involvement in the investigation of acute kidney injury in both small and large animals undergoing anaesthesia and surgery.
