BSc, MS, PhD Dr. Shamsul Haque, a soil science lecturer at Charles Sturt University, completed his PhD on crop options following flooded rice in NSW highlighting soil chemical changes. His research focused on soil-related barriers during crop establishment, proposing mitigation strategies through optimized organic fertilisers. Dr. Haque has extensive experience in soil resource management in overseas. As a senior research scientist, he managed industry-based field trial program for three years, participated in GRDC-funded crop rotational trials, and explored soil health and weed seedbank persistence. PSC104 Soil Science, PSC415 Soil Management, and PSC406 Summer Cropping System are taught and coordinated by Shamsul. His extensive expertise enables him to impart valuable knowledge to students across these disciplines. In his teaching, he covers soil physico-chemical properties, irrigation management, sustainable summer crop agronomy, and effective soil management strategies in various cropping zones in southern NSW. Through engaging lectures, field trips and practical demonstrations, he equips students with the necessary skills for maintaining healthy soil and increasing agricultural yields in the years to come. Shamsul is working on soil-dung beetle relation on the soil functions (MLA funded), biochar-microbes-inoculum interactions (CSU funded) and soil knowledge extension work in the Riverina (Department of Agriculture and Environment funded) projects. Additionally, he is exploring the use of solar panel systems for shaded dryland pasture production and DAFF Future Drought Fund Long Term Trials in NSW . He is also currently supervising PhD students at Charles Sturt University. Dr Haque published more than 30 research articles, conference proceedings and grower notes.Chemistry
