Sam started her career as a student paramedic with Yorkshire Ambulance Service associated with Teesside University in 2009.

She studied and completed a Foundation Degree in Paramedic Science whilst employed and working on an Ambulance in the busy area of Leeds, Bradford, and Wakefield. Sam was based on a major motorway network on the outskirts of this major city in Yorkshire, covering a variety of urban and rural localities with a diverse population.

In 2011 Sam began mentoring student paramedics and in 2012 she became a sole responder on a first response unit. In 2013 Sam moved to the United Arab of Emirates working as a frontline paramedic for the emergency police ambulance service in the culturally diverse city of Abu Dhabi. She and her colleagues worked to advance the out of hospital care from a very basic system to one more advanced.

She then began as a Clinical Educator helping to develop and train new and qualified emergency medical technicians and paramedics, before arriving at CSU in 2016.

Her current study interest is health and fitness in paramedic practice, and currently involved in research in this area. Other interests include volunteering as a medic for the motorcycle TT racing in the Isle of Mann.
