Krista is an overseas trained paramedic and has completed an Associate of Applied Science at Shawnee State University in the United States. Krista has also completed a Master of Health Science at Western Sydney University and is currently enrolled in a PhD at Monash University.

Krista has taught into Health Sciences, Public Health and Paramedicine and is committed to providing culturally safe learning and healthcare. She has a strong background in research-related project management, supervising student research at the undergraduate level and postgraduate levels and in partnership with key stakeholders within health and education sectors.

Krista’s primary research focus explores paramedic attitudes towards salutogenesis and health resilience and improving collaborative care models through interprofessional practice and education. Additionally, she is actively involved with organisations such as the Western NSW Health Research Network (WHRN) and Australasian Interprofessional Practice and Education Network (AIPPEN).

Krista is currently a Lecturer of Paramedicine in the School of Nursing, Paramedicine and Health Sciences.

Krista’s teaching experience includes:

Additionally, Krista has previously been employed by the National Institute of Complementary Medicine to develop a training program for health interpreters working with clinical trials. This resulted in a program to increase the engagement of CALD populations in clinical trials through better health interpreter support.

Krista has received the Vice Chancellor’s Excellence Award for excellence in Engagement and Sustainability and was nominated for the School of Health Sciences, School Learning and Teaching Award in the sessional academic category at Western Sydney University.

Australasian Interprofessional Practice and Education Network (AIPPEN)

AIPPEN is a network of individuals, groups and organisations dedicated to improving health outcomes by promoting, researching and supporting interprofessional education.  The group recognises the importance of interprofessional communication and care collaboration in the improvement of health outcomes, particularly among groups with increased social needs. As a member of the steering committee, Krista also sits on the Rural and Remote special interest group.

In this role Krista is responsible for overseeing the finances of the research network which runs a major symposium every year for rural researchers.
