Janet has been with CSU got 4 years.  Prior to working at CSU Janet taught for Monash University for 4 years. Janet brings to her teaching extensive experience as an Intensive Care Paramedic (ICP), spanning a 17 year career with St John New Zealand.  She was involved in the Extended Care Paramedic training and a pilot program with a District Health Board where they placed an ICP in a rural ED.

Janet has done aid work in Kyrgyzstan (Central Asia) teaching rural ambulance workers emergency medicine and working with homeless in the capital city. Currently she works voluntarily with local Indigenous Iwi (Maori tribe) teaching first aid and health promotion.

Janet has an interest in psychology, having worked as a counsellor before joining ambulance.  Her experience in this field spanned drug and alcohol counselling, family counselling and general practice.  This has led her to be interested in mental health in paramedicine, workplace bullying and the health and wellbeing of people.

Janet teaches by distance both undergraduate and post graduate level.  She has been responsible for developing and implementing the Extended Care Paramedic post graduate specialty.
