Sonya has been a medical nurse for over 30 years with an interest in the collaborative nature of medical nursing with allied health in patient care. Facilitator to undergraduate nursing students on placement for the past 3 years. Recent completion of a minor thesis as part of the masters degree at the University of Melbourne titled ‘Barriers and enablers to mobilising hospital patients: A qualitative study’ (submitted for publication).

Sonya's new appointment as an academic at Charles Sturt is teaching first year undergraduate nursing students.

Currently teaching first year undergraduate nursing students on campus at Albury.

Sonya is interested in research to support nursing on medical wards due to the increasing complex nature of patient care. Plan to further the minor thesis into a pilot project for PhD study in the future.
