Lisa has worked in the NT, NSW, and VIC in Paediatrics, neonates and women’s health.  She has also worked with children, adolescents and families as a counsellor. Lisa has worked and travelled overseas, working with children and families. Lisa comes from a rural and regional area and has continued to work remote, rural and regional.  Lisa has spent time in major hospitals in Sydney, Melbourne and Darwin building her skills to then return to the rural areas. Lisa has been involved in clinical education throughout her 30 plus years of clinical nursing which is what drew her to teaching at university.  Lisa now wish’s to research education further to provide the best possible learning experience for students.

Lisa’s teaching philosophy is to create a teaching space that allows a student to feel safe to learn.  To share their knowledge with others and to teach as much as they learn. To allow students to reach their potential by providing a safe learning space that is student centred.

Lisa has been a part of a team that has published around Evidence Based Practice and what is the understanding of EBP for students.  Currently working within a team looking at how to provide the best possible experience in tutorials for students both on campus and online.

Lisa’s own research within her Masters was focused on how to build Emotional Intelligence for undergraduate Nursing and Education students, particular online students. This research will be carried on within her PhD with a specific focus on the use of Reflection for online students.
