Professor Kathleen Tori is a Nurse Practitioner (NP) and Professor of Nursing for the School of Nursing, Paramedicine, and Health Sciences at Charles Sturt University. Additionally, Kathy holds an Adjunct Professor position at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, La Trobe University Australia. Her clinical, academic, and research interests include all facets of nursing models of health care delivery: transitional processes of advanced nursing roles, including barriers and enablers that challenge the successful implementation of alternate health service delivery, economic impact, digital health, and sustainability of emerging nurse-led health care, particularly in rural areas. She is passionate about ensuring equitable and timely access to high-quality healthcare provision for all Australians regardless of their geographical location. Dr Kathleen Tori is a highly motivated and committed academic with an extensive background in learning and teaching, underpinned by higher-degree studies in educational pedagogies and curriculum development. During her academic appointments Kathleen has overseen and actively led, the accreditation processes of the Bachelor of Nursing, Master of Nursing programs, and Master of Nurse Practitioner courses. Kathleen is co-developing a suite of advanced practice Masterclasses for Nurse Practitioners for future delivery, codesigned with Nurse practitioners. She currently coordinates and teaches NRS533 Advancing Emergency Care Nursing Practice. Dr Tori is an active researcher and findings from research outcomes have informed health policy, clinical practice, and nursing curricula and have demonstrated improved patient outcomes, particularly for those who reside in geographically isolated or underserviced rural communities. Research findings have been presented at International, National, State, and local conferences and symposiums, several being invited or plenary presentations. Collaborating with colleagues nationally and internationally she has secured significant grant funding, and her research is gaining momentum around advanced practice nursing and the provision of equitable health care in rural and remote communities. Kathleen has over 70 publications in which she either leads or is a co-author including peer-reviewed publications, invited editorials, book chapters, government reports, and curriculum texts, with two texts in the planning for 2024. Current research projects include: In 2015 Kathy was appointed as a Fellow for the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) and was the National Secretary 2015-20 19. Dr Tori has completed the Council of Deans Nursing and Midwifery Council (CDNM), inaugural leadership program (2020), and completed the Australasian Women’s Leadership (WLA) program in 2019. Kathy is a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals nationally and internationally. Currently, she is undertaking a Research Mentor role for the Australian College of Nursing (ACN) Early Research Leadership Program, 2024.Nursing
