Julie Schubert is a Wiradjuri woman from Darlington Point. Her background in mental health includes completion of the Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health) with Charles Sturt University between 2018 and 2020 while undertaking a traineeship with an Aboriginal Medical Service. She performed the role of mental health clinician / social and emotional wellbeing worker from 2020 to 2022. She then took a learning opportunity as a First Nations Cadet with Three Rivers Department of Rural Health, Charles Sturt University, afterwards transitioning to the role of Rural Health Education Officer.

Julie has come onboard the First Nations Health team in 2025 in the role of Associate Lecturer to share her knowledge in First Nations mental health and health practice in community.

Julie has an interest in First Nations mental health and health in regional and remote Australia; Social and emotional wellbeing; decolonising approaches in mental health and psychology; and contemporary issues for First Nations women and youth. Julie has participated in research projects focussed upon heat mitigation strategies for health professionals and the experiences of health students post service-learning placements in regional and remote areas.
