Liyana joined the academic team at Charles Sturt University / Wagga Wagga campus in 2019. She had accomplished Bachelor of Biomedical Science Degree in 2008 from Monash University majoring in human physiology and then went on to complete Bachelor of Oral Health at Charles Sturt University in 2013 and obtained a Deans award in her final year. She later completed the Adult Scope of Practice of Oral Health from The University of Newcastle in 2018. She is currently a postgraduate Masters student in Dentistry where the area focus is on dental occlusion (Prevalence of oral habits and anterior open bite).

Liyana had previously been part of the casual tutoring team at Charles Sturt University, teaching and supervising students in both simulation and patient clinics. She has also worked privately in General dental practices as well as specialist orthodontic clinics. Her previous role was working for the New South Wales Health and providing dental care in Orange, Bathurst and Oberon.

Liyana has a passion for dental education, dental research as well as providing dental care for those in need, specifically in regional and remote regions of Australia. She also enjoys supervising students in patient clinics.

In her free time she enjoys creative writing, arts and playing with her two children.
